The Rivers State Sole Administrator, (Rtd) Vice Admiral Ibok Ette-Ibas, has appeared before the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on Rivers State Oversight led by the House Leader.
The Committee which was set up by the Speaker House of Representatives, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas, had invited the Sole Administrator to appear before the Committee to ascertain the true state of affairs in Rivers State and to ensure that the House remains properly guided in the discharge of its oversight responsibilities in the public interest.
In his brief remarks Rtd Vice Admiral Ibok Ette-Ibas, said he is fully committed to cooperating with the committee and to ensuring that all relevant information is made available in due course to support the important work of the Committee.
He explained that his inability to honor the earlier invitation was not deliberate but as a result of the urgency engagements to stabilize the Rivers State as the Sole Administrator.
The Chairman of the Committee, the Leader of the House of Representatives, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, reiterated the Green Chamber commitment to fulfilling its duties with diligence, transparency, and strict adherence to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, emphasized that the committee in discharging its oversight function, will be guided by the constitution and National interest.
