As part of efforts to strengthen security operations and maintain peace across Kwara State, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq led administration in the State has donated 150 off-road motorcycles to the Nigerian Army.
The motorcycles are expected to enhance troops’ mobility and effectiveness, particularly in rugged terrains such as forests, where non-state actors may be hiding with intent to destabilise the peaceful atmosphere of the state.
This was made known in a statement issued by Senior Special Assistant, New Media to the Governor, Olayinka Fafoluyi on Saturday.
This strategic intervention follows recent reports of the disturbances of non-state actors in parts of Kwara South and Kwara North.
“In response, on Monday, April 21, 2025, Governor AbdulRazaq led a high-powered joint security delegation on an operational assessment tour to the Kaiama Local Government Area in Kwara North.
“Within 24 hours of the tour, the Governor also held a strategic meeting with the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede, in his office at Ahmadu Bello House, Ilorin, who assured him of the Army’s readiness to collaborate with other security agencies to restore peace in the affected areas.
Governor AbdulRazaq has consistently supported the security agencies across the state. A few months ago, his administration donated vehicles and motorcycles to the 22 Armoured Brigade of the Nigerian Army”, the statement said.
This development was coming on the heels of reported cases of kidnapping cases in the northern and southern part of the state.
