The executive governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening fire safety services towards safeguarding lives and property of Residents.
Governor Adeleke stated this at the commissioning of three newly acquired fire trucks at the Osun State Fire Service headquarters in Osogbo.
He noted that when he assumed office, he was alarmed by the poor state of fire service facilities in the state, revealing that the last procurement of fire trucks occurred over 14 years ago.
He said his administration has so far acquired seven modern fire trucks and one water tanker, in addition to providing protective gear and enhanced training for fire officers to improve their preparedness and professionalism.
“We have supplied essential firefighting equipment, including protective gears to ensure our brave officers are well-equipped, well-prepared, and adequately protected in the line of duty. We have also prioritized the training of our fire officers so they can respond to emergencies with professionalism and efficiency.” Adeleke states further
Governor Adeleke assured that at least one fire truck would be purchased for each of the nine Federal Constituencies in Osun State and one at the Fire Service Headquarters.
He however, directed the State Commissioner for Home Affairs and the management of the Osun State Fire Service to establish a comprehensive maintenance schedule and accountability framework to ensure that these vital assets continue to serve residents effectively and without interruption.
Earlier, the State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Mr. Abdulrosheed Aderibigbe lauded the State Governor for providing the three additional Fire Tenders required to combat Fire disasters and emergencies in the State.
Mr. Aderibigbe urged fire personnel and other stakeholders to ensure effective utilization of the acquired resources.
Present at the event were Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Lasun Yussuf, Dr. Olu Alabi, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, other members of the Executive amongst other distinguished personalities.
