The Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) has officially launched the AI Campus Network, a forward-looking initiative aimed at equipping 10,000 young Africans with skills in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and digital innovation by 2030.
The program, which targets university students across Nigeria and Africa, will provide hands-on training, mentorship, hackathons, and opportunities for real-world industry experience in cutting-edge tech fields.
As part of its pilot phase, the AI Campus Network is now accepting applications from students of the University of Lagos (Unilag). Interested students are encouraged to apply and become part of a select group that will pioneer the program’s first cohort.
According to CJID, the initiative is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry readiness, preparing students not only for jobs in the global tech economy but also to lead innovative projects and startups of their own.
“The AI Campus Network is a bold step toward ensuring African youth are not left behind in the ongoing digital revolution,” the organization said in a statement.

This initiative adds to growing efforts to build a vibrant AI and tech ecosystem in Nigeria, especially among students and early-career professionals.
