President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has pledged to continue partnering Anambra State and the South-East region to bring dividends of democracy to the people.
Speaking at the inauguration of key projects in Awka, President Tinubu commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s visionary leadership and expressed optimism that despite political differences, they would unite to bring prosperity to the nation.
President Tinubu who described Governor Soludo as a brilliant man and friend, appreciated the people’s support during his presidential election and promised to work together for the people’s benefit.
“I am honoured to be here. I commend my friend, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who is a visionary and competent leader for the work he has been doing in Anambra State,” the President
Earlier, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, in a welcome address, thanked the President for inaugurating the projects, describing them as a clear symbol of the new Anambra’s vision,noting that many fundamental projects would be completed in the near future.
Governor Soludo further reiterated his administration’s determination to transform Anambra into a livable, smart megacity, moving away from its previous trajectory of departure lounge to destination hub.
He commended President Tinubu’s efforts to move Nigeria forward, despite economic challenges, and expressed confidence in his leadership abilities, citing his experience as Governor of Lagos State.
“We know the state of Nigeria’s economy with all its unsustainable dysfunctionalities when you assumed office. You had the courage to tame the Atlantic Ocean in Lagos, and now, you’re courageously and systematically getting the economy to work again,” Soludo said.
“There’s still a lot of work to do, we know, but there’s no doubt that in less than two years, important building blocks are already falling into place. We urge you, Mr. President, to stay the course.” the Governor added”.
On arrival, President Tinubu had inaugurated the Emeka Anyaoku Institute for International Studies and Diplomacy at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, and the New Government House.
The President expressed happiness at the completion of the Government House, which had taken 34 years since Anambra’s existence.
The President praised the Emeka Anyaoku project, recognizing his contributions to peace and diplomacy as a former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, commending Chief Emeka Anyaoku’s contributions to Nigeria’s democracy, unity, and progress, describing him as a great Nigerian.
Correspondent Ben Ilechukwu reports that the highpoint of the visit was the conferment of the Chieftaincy title of “Dike si mba. Anambra” by the Traditional Rulers Council of Anambra State.
