The Kwara State Government has ordered the immediate closure of Government High School and Government Day Secondary School, Adeta, in Ilorin West Local Government Area, following a wave of students’ unrest.

The directive was issued on Tuesday by the State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, during a press briefing at the Ministry’s headquarters in Ilorin.

According to Dr. Olohungbebe, the closure is aimed at restoring order and ensuring the safety of students and staff. He clarified that only students currently sitting for the ongoing Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSSCE) and their teachers would be granted access to the school premises.

He further stated that such students must wear their identification cards at all times while on school grounds. Parents and guardians were also urged to keep their children and wards at home during this period.

The Commissioner emphasized that any student found violating the directive would be apprehended by security personnel stationed in the area.
