The University of Ilorin has commended the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) under the leadership of its Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede for the transparent and professional manner in which the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) issues were addressed.
In a commendation statement, personally signed by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole SAN, The institution praised the Board’s forthrightness in admitting and publicly addressing the error that affected over 300,000 candidates, describing the move as “uncommon in Nigeria.”
“The Board approached the issues that arose on the result with truthfulness and nothing was hidden from the public,” the Vice-Chancellor wrote.
“This approach demonstrated courage, honesty of purpose, integrity, and a call to the younger generation to emulate these positive values.” the letter added
Prof. Egbewole further hailed the Registrar’s decision to take full responsibility for the error caused by one of JAMB’s service providers, rather than shifting blame. He noted that such leadership exemplifies strength of character and national service.
The University also celebrated the Registrar as a distinguished alumnus and worthy ambassador of the institution, praying for continued divine guidance and greater service to the nation.
“We are indeed very proud of you,” the letter concluded.
