The Lagos State High Court has thrown out VeryDarkMan’s (Martins Otse) attempt to stall the ₦1 billion defamation suit filed by human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) and his son, rapper Falz.
Justice Olabisi Akinlade didn’t mince words, calling VDM’s objection “frivolous and vexatious.” As punishment, the court hit him with a ₦200,000 fine, payable to the Falanas.
The case stems from a viral video posted by VDM on September 24, 2024, where he alleged that Falana and Falz received ₦10 million from Bobrisky to meddle in a legal matter. The Falanas have denied the claims, branding them false and malicious.
Back in October 2024, the court had already ordered VDM to delete the video and stop the defamation. That order still stands.
Now that his objection has been dismissed, the main trial is set to begin, with witnesses expected to take the stand soon. No new hearing date has been announced yet.
Falana’s legal team calls this ruling “a step toward accountability in the digital age.” VDM has yet to respond.
