By Admin

The People’s Democratic Party has on Sunday held a high political coalition meeting featuring former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party leader Peter Obi, and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi was thrown into disarray on Saturday following a dispute over Jigawa State’s representation.

The meeting, held at the Abuja Continental Hotel and convened by the National Political Consultative Group (North), was momentarily disrupted when Babachir Lawal, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, announced a representative to speak on behalf of Jigawa.

The announcement sparked immediate outrage among Jigawa delegates, who stormed the stage in protest. They rejected the appointed spokesperson and insisted they would not accept representation without prior consultation.

The commotion forced security personnel—including police, DSS operatives, and private guards—to intervene swiftly, forming a protective cordon around top figures like Atiku and Amaechi.

Order was eventually restored after interventions from other stakeholders. A compromise was reached with the appointment of Mustapha Lamido, son of former Jigawa Governor Sule Lamido, and another delegate to represent the state.
