The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) declared it as a memorial for the millions who di3d during the Biafran W@r and those who have fallen in the struggle since then.
Reports stated that in Ebonyi, Abia, Anambra and other south eastern states are currently observing sit at home today, May 30th, 2025.
The entire South-East stood still. It wasn’t an ordinary sit-at-home; it was a day written in memory, sacrifice and pa¡n.
Shops were shut. Schools were closed. No movement in the markets. No traffic. Not even noise. Just stillness. But behind that stillness was a strong message: We have not forgotten.
In the diaspora too, Igbo people came out in black, carrying placards, waving the Biafran flag and chanting old songs of resistance. In London, Texas, Johannesburg and Rome voices rose in unity, calling for justice and freedom.
According to statements from the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), members across over 120 countries organized peaceful rallies and marches to honor those who lost their lives during the Biafran War and in the ongoing struggle for self-determination.
