Leaked questions results to midnight exam, caused by outside vendors – WAEC

The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, Nigeria through its head Dr. Amos Dangut, says the leaked question papers that resulted to midnight writing of English Language in some parts of the country were outsourced from outside vendors.

‎Dr. Dangut stated this during a meeting with the House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education Examination Bodies 

The Head of WAEC Nigeria Office explained that the WAEC Nigeria Office has the capacity to print and produce 50% of the question papers while the remaining 50% were outsourced from outside vendors.

According to Dr. Dangut,  preliminary investigation has shown that the compromised questions were caused by the outsourced Vendors and effort to set new questions to replaced the compromised questions led to Midnight writing of examinations in some parts of the country.

Dr. Dangut, while apologizing for the challenges and irregularities that characterized this year’s WAEC examination, emphasized that efforts are being put in place to correct future reoccurrence.

The Chairman House Committee on Basic Education Examination Bodies, Mr. Oboku Oforji, expressed dismay over the poor handling of the WAEC examinations which has caused a huge public outcry and condemnation across the country.

Mr. Oforji pointed out that the circumstances that surrounded the midnight writing of WAEC examination would demoralize many candidates thereby affecting the outcome of the examination.

The Committee promised to take legislative action against any individuals or organization responsible for the challenges that characterized this year’s WAEC examinations.

One of the Committee Members, Mr. Billy Osawaru while describing Dr. Dangut as incompetent, advised him to tender his resignation  to allow more competent person to pilot the affairs of the office
