The Pro-chancellor and Chairman Governing Council Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila Orangun, Osun State, (FUHSI), Prof. Wale Sulaiman, CON, has joined millions of Nigerians in mourning the death of Nigeria’s former President and national icon, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, whose passing was officially announced on Sunday.
In a condolence message he personally signed, Prof. Sulaiman described the late former President as a national knight, an elder statesman, and a silent philanthropist, whose life of service left a profound impact on Nigeria’s socio-political landscape.
“President Muhammadu Buhari was a fine general officer, a disciplined leader, and a man of strong convictions. His legacy spans decades, from serving as Head of State (1983–1985) to returning as Nigeria’s democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023. Throughout his leadership, he remained committed to national security, anti-corruption, and economic recovery efforts, earning both respect and criticism, but always standing firm in his vision for a better Nigeria,” Prof. Sulaiman noted.
He further commended President Buhari’s dedication to nation-building, particularly his recognition and empowerment of talented Nigerians across the world; an effort Prof. Sulaiman described as “strategic to harnessing the potential of Nigeria’s global intellect for domestic progress.”
“As a proud recipient of the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) national honour under his administration, I hold in high esteem the trust and responsibility his leadership placed upon us,” he stated.
Prof. Sulaiman acknowledged that President Buhari’s tenure was marked by national patriotism, integrity, and lifelong service to Nigeria.
He extended his heartfelt condolences to the Buhari family, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR and all citizens mourning this national loss.
“May Almighty Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings, accept his service, and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus. Amin,” he concluded.
