Residents of Kwara State have expressed grief on the demise of Former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The President, Nigeria Political Science Association, NPSA, Professor Hassan Salihu said the Former President represented an era in the political history of Nigeria and was seen as a man with the magic wand to solve Nigeria’s problems, hence his defeat of an incumbent President in 2015.
Professor Salihu explained that although his eight years in power produced a mixed result of praise and criticism, the late Retired-General Buhari contributed immensely to the country’s development.
Also, the Kwara State Chairman, Arewa Consultative Forum, Dr. Ghali Alaya, who expressed the forum’s sorrow over the news of the transition of former President Buhari, said his death has left a huge gap in the political space.
Dr. Alaya described the late Former President as a straight – forward man, who tried his best for the betterment of Nigeria.
In a reaction, the Pro – Chancellor and Chairman Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila Orangun, Professor Wale Sulaiman affirmed that late Buhari was a national knight, an elder statesman, whose leadership fought for national security, anti – corruption and economic recovery efforts, earning both respect and criticism, but stood firm in his vision for a better Nigeria.
The respondents prayed to Allah to forgive his shortcomings, grant him eternal rest and comfort those he left behind.
Late Former President Muhammadu Buhari led the country twice from December 31, 1983 to August 27, 1985 as a Military Head of State and between May 29, 2015 to May 29, 2023 as a civilian President.
Former President Buhari died yesterday July thirteenth, 2025 in a London Hospital at the age of 82.
