The All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for accusing the Bola Tinubu – led administration of exploiting the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari for political gain.
In a statement, the APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, described the ADC’s position as a reflection of its “duplicity and insensitivity.”
He questioned what the ADC expected the President to do in the face of a national loss.
“What would the ADC have had President Tinubu do? Deny the late President Buhari the honour of a befitting state burial? Withhold empathy and support for the bereaved former first family? As a party that can begrudge the dead, the ADC must surely disdain the living,” Morka queried.
“Again, the ADC has showcased itself to be without any understanding of customary state practice, and lacking empathy and essential humanity.
The APC spokesperson said it was unacceptable for the ADC to politicize a solemn national moment, noting that its statement was issued during the official mourning period.
He stressed that Buhari, who served Nigeria as a soldier, military Head of State, and two-term democratic President, deserved a dignified farewell, adding that his grieving family merited national empathy and support.
The ADC had, in a statement on Friday, July 18, 2025, faulted the state burial organized in honour of Buhari, describing it as a political spectacle.
