President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Super Falcons of Nigeria on their victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, securing their record 10th Continental Title.
In a statement, the President says the team’s spectacular performance in Rabat, coming from behind to beat a spirited Moroccan side playing in front of a passionate home crowd, exemplifies the determination that defines the Nigerian spirit.
“With hard work, dedication, and tenacity, you have achieved the mission the nation dreamed of and prayed for. The nation looks forward to welcoming our champions. Congratulations! Nigeria celebrates you.”
Also, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has congratulated the Super Falcons on their historic victory at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), marking their 10th title in the tournament’s history.
In a statement released after the team’s 3–2 win over Morocco in the final, Ambassador Tuggar described the Falcons as “true ambassadors of Nigerian excellence on the global stage,” commending their resilience, discipline, and unity.
“The Super Falcons have once again shown what it means to represent Nigeria with pride and purpose,” Tuggar said. “Their determination and consistency reflect the values we hold dear as a nation.”
He praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support of sports development in Nigeria and acknowledged the strategic efforts of Mr. Shehu Dikko and the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

In a tension-soaked final played in Rabat, the Super Falcons staged a remarkable comeback, overturning a first half two-goal deficit, scoring 3 goals in the second half to defeat hosts Morocco 3-2.
Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, Honourable Kabiru Amadu, who witnessed the match live alongside other dignitaries, praised the team’s resilience and attacking spirit.
The Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency representative described the victory as both a national achievement and an inspiration to young Nigerians.
“I am thrilled to celebrate the Super Falcons of Nigeria on their remarkable achievement in the final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations,” Amadu said. “Their 3-2 win over Morocco is a testament to their skill, determination, and unwavering dedication to representing our great nation.”
He emphasized that the win goes beyond sports, symbolizing the strength and perseverance of Nigerian women.
“This victory is not only a triumph for Nigerian football but also a celebration of the resilience of Nigerian women. Their success is a beacon of hope and a reminder that with hard work and perseverance, anything is possible,” he added.
Amadu also addressed the issue of player compensation, affirming that the committee is working closely with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to ensure timely disbursement of players’ bonuses.
“We are collaborating with the NFF to ensure that the players receive their 30 percent share from the Confederation of African Football’s $1 million prize money without delay,” he assured.
The win secured Nigeria’s record-extending 10th WAFCON title, further cementing the team’s dominance in African women’s football, winning all 10 finals they ever participated in.
