FRSC trains 250 Commercial Drivers on rescue Operations

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has trained over two hundred and fifty commercial drivers on the rescue of road accident victims at the Jabi Central motor park.

The training organized by a non governmental organization: Hospital Emergency Response Foundation in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC and the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA was to build the capacity of drivers and passengers on the technique of saving lives and application of First Aid during Emergency.

The Executive Director of the Hospital Emergency Response Foundation, Udanga Agam-Jarigbe, said there was a need for collaborative effort at saving lives through proper use of first aid during road accidents and other emergency situations.

Udanga Agam-Jarigbe assured that the foundation would continue to partner Transport Unions, Traffic Management Agencies, and other Stakeholders to reduce the number of deaths from road accidents in the country.

She emphasized that the training would be conducted in every part of the country to decrease the impact of accidents on citizens.

The Head of Operations, Federal Road Safety Corps in the Federal Capital Territory, Mr Isah Nzapisma said the Sector was working with relevant organizations towards achieving the United Nations Decade of Action of reducing road accidents by fifty percent in the year 2030.

Mr Isah Nzapisma urged participants to make use of the training and avoid reckless driving as well as intake of alcoholic drinks.

Furthermore, an assistant director at the National Emergency Management Agency, Mr Labaran Ahman, expressed concern over the attitude of people towards the victims of road accidents and other emergencies.

According to him, most Nigerians have placed premium on use of phones for video recording instead of attending to the victims in emergency situations.

Mr Labaran Ahman reassured Nigerians that NEMA was ever ready to provide its equipment to rescue victims of road accidents and other emergencies in every part of the country.

All participants received first aid kits and other medicals for use during an emergency.
