Kwara South Youths Demand Urgent Military Intervention Against Insecurity

Advocate  creation of a Joint Security Task Force

Recommend imposition of a 12-hour curfew, 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m in most Affected Communities

The Igbomina Youth Assembly, in collaboration with other community-based youth organizations and students’ unions in Kwara South, called on both the Federal and State Governments to edouble efforts in  protecting lives and property in the region.

Speaking at a press conference on the state of insecurity in Kwara South, particularly in Ifelodun Local Government Area, President of the Assembly, Engr. Ajibola Olugbenga, emphasized the urgent need for heavy deployment of military forces to dislodge bandits and restore peace in the affected communities.

He warned that failure to act decisively could not only erode the heritage and economy of Kwara South but also destabilize the entire state and Nigeria at large.

Engr Olugbenga also advocated the creation of a Joint Security Task Force comprising Federal, State, and Local authorities, with youth representatives included, to ensure coordinated response and accountability.

He further urged the Federal Government to introduce swift intervention programs aimed at rehabilitating displaced persons, rebuilding destroyed communities, and curbing mass migration.

He however recommended the imposition of a 12-hour curfew (6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.) in the most affected communities to enable the military conduct an effective operations against criminal elements.

In a remarks, the President of the Kwara South Consultative Youth Forum, Comrade Gabriel Omoniyi, appealed to the State Government to intensify efforts in safeguarding lives and property.

Contributing, KWAYORG President, Prince Abolarin Dansarafa described the situation in Kwara South as “nothing short of terrorism” and urged political leaders from the region to unite and contribute meaningfully towards resolving the security challenges confronting their senatorial district.
