Kwara police nabs fake politician who duped job seeker N300m

Kwara State Police Command has arrested a suspected fraudster, Mr. Adeola Badru, who allegedly swindled unsuspecting job seeker of the sum of N300 million with a promise to get him appointment as a member of South West Development Commission (SWDC).

The suspect, according to the Kwara state Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, was traced to his hideout in Ibadan where he was arrested by operatives of the command following a complaint lodged against him by one Joseph Olugbenga.

Briefing journalists on the activities of the command in Ilorin, Thursday, the CP said the suspect who presented himself as an influential politician obtained the sum of N300 million money from the suspects through false pretence was reported through a petition written by one Joseph Olugbenga ‘M’ of Gaa-Odota, Ilorin.

He reported that sometime in February 2023, the suspect, Mr. Adeola Badru, approached and introduced himself to the complainant Mr Joseph Olugbenga.

“The suspect claimed to be a seasoned politician and a very influential personality with direct access to many top politicians in Nigeria, and further assured that he could assist the complainant to secure any federal government political appointment of his choice. Based on trust, the complainant released, in tranches, the sum of Three Hundred Million Naira (#300,000,000.00) to the suspect, believing his promise to facilitate the appointment as a member into the South West Development Commission.
