Calls for Unity of all Kwara Southerners

The need for political office holders and those in leadership positions to prioritize improving the livelihood of people in the Kwara South Senatorial district and development of the region has been re-emphasized.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila Orangun FUHSI, Prof. Wale Sulaiman made the call at the Kwara South G7 Political Hangout held in Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Prof. Wale Sulaiman urged political stakeholders in Kwara South to embrace unity, collaboration, and people-oriented governance as vital tools in tackling the rising challenges of insecurity across the State.

The APC Chieftain tasked the people to be united in selecting and electing competent leaders who are capable to ensure the people enjoy the dividends of democracy and solve various challenges such as insecurity, unemployment, among others facing the Senatorial district.

“It’s time to migrate from tribal politics, ethno – religion politics, to issue – based politics to achieve progress and meaningful development. We should select leaders based on track – record of performance, integrity and capacity to proffer solutions.

“Youth unemployment is over 70% in Kwara South, out of those employed about 60% are under-employed” he maintained.

Earlier , the Convener of Kwara South G7, Prince Shuaib Olanrewaju vowed that the Kwara South Senatorial District will not associate with any candidate or individual who treat the region as being optional.

Prince Olanrewaju stated that the immediate focus of the group ahead of 2027 is to embark on sensitization and re-direct their minds to ensure the unity of Kwara Southerners with target of development and progress of the people.

The event themed “Defining Unity of Purpose for Kwara-South Senatorial District”, attracted participants from Irepodun, Isin, Ifelodun, Ekiti, Oke-Ero, Oyun and Offa Local Government Areas, including Senator representing Kwara South, Arch. Lola Ashiru, NALDA Chairman Engr. Oluwasegun Adebayo among others.
