Residents of Adanla-Irese Community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, are still in deep shock following a bandit attack on the community on Thursday evening, December 25, 2025.

The incident occurred at about 7:30 p.m., when armed bandits stormed the community, firing gunshots and causing panic among residents who were celebrating the Christmas season.

Several people were injured, including a young girl who sustained serious wounds. According to eyewitness accounts, about nine community members were abducted.

The attack has thrown the once-peaceful ancient town into fear, grief, and trauma, marking what community leaders describe as an unprecedented security breach in Adanla-Irese.

In a statement issued on behalf of the Elerin of Adanla , Oba (Dr) David S. Oladele Oyerinola Adedunmoye, and the entire community, the National President of the Adanla Community Development Association, Elder Philip Olanrewaju Adigun, appealed to the Kwara State Governor and Chief Security Officer, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as well as security agencies, to urgently intervene.

The community is calling for the immediate and unconditional release of the abducted victims, improved security presence, and the establishment of a military or security outpost to restore confidence and enable displaced residents to return home safely.
