Tinubu directs Military, Police, DSS to hunt terrorists behind Niger Attack

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the military, police, and the Department of State Services (DSS) to track down and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the recent attack on Kasuwan Daji community in Niger State.

The President also ordered security agencies to urgently rescue all abducted victims, including women and children. The directive came after reports that villagers were killed in the assault, reportedly by terrorists fleeing Sokoto and Zamfara following a U.S. airstrike on Christmas Eve.

In a statement on Sunday, President Tinubu strongly condemned the killings and abductions, describing the perpetrators as testing the resolve of Nigeria and its citizens. He warned that all terrorists and their collaborators would face justice.

The President extended his condolences to the families of the victims, as well as the Government and people of Niger State. He assured Nigerians that security operations around vulnerable communities, especially near forest hideouts, have been intensified to prevent further attacks.

“United, we can and must defeat them and deny them any sanctuary. We must reclaim the peace and security of these attacked communities,” President Tinubu said, urging citizens to remain calm and avoid divisive rhetoric that could undermine national cohesion during this challenging period.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed that the security chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police had received directives to ensure swift action against the attackers.

The President’s order reflects the federal government’s commitment to protecting lives and restoring stability in communities affected by violent attacks in the North-West and North-Central regions.
