Organizations should Strengthen Security Policies to ensure Workplace Peaceful Environment – Al-Hikmah University DVC

Heads of various organizations have been tasked to strengthen workplace policies to align with national security frameworks in a bid to promote peaceful and conducive environment.

The Deputy Vice – Chancellor, Al-Hikmah University Ilorin, Dr. Sikiru Nurudeen made the call while delivering lecture at the 4th Peace and Conflict Management Capacity Building Retreat of the Centre for Peace and Security Studies, Al-Hikmah University held in Ilorin, Kwara State.

While delivering lecture titled “Leadership Style and Workplace Security” Dr. Nurudeen highlighted the need to promote transformational leadership in organizations to foster accountability and safety.

The Deputy Vice – Chancellor also stressed the importance of uncovering the root causes of insecurity in the country, so as to get appropriate strategies to addressing it, from kinetic to non-kinetic approaches.

“We have to also look into the global dimension to the issue, examine government policies and approaches. This makes it imperative for all stakeholders, lecturers, security experts and students to find lasting solutions to the challenges,” Dr. Nurudeen maintained.

Earlier, while declaring the 3-day capacity building open, the Vice Chancellor Al-Hikmah University, Prof. Lateef Oladimeji expressed the institution’s management satisfaction with the quality of job being carried out by the Schools’ Center for Peace and Security Studies which has increased the Center popularity and acceptance by the public.

Prof. Oladimeji stated that the Center which is rich in curriculum and staffing continue to record a boost in students’ enrollment.

He commended the Center’s management and Staff for their resilience.

In an address of welcome, the Director Centre for Peace and Security Studies, Al-Hikmah University, Dr. Abdulazeez Adekola stressed that the Center has extended the peace, conflict and security training beyond the Postgraduate students to interested senior security officers as a way of increasing their skills, capacity and professional experience in non- kinetic approach.

The event had in attendance representatives of the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, State Commandant NSCDC, and his NDLEA Counterpart, including the State Commissioner for Water Resources, Mr. Lade Usman among others.
