Kwara Students Back Prof Wale Sulaiman’s 2027 Gubernatorial Bid

As Prof. Sulaiman reiterates belief in free pry and secondary education, with support for federal student loan scheme at tertiary level

The student constituency in Kwara State has formally aligned with the gubernatorial aspiration of Prof. Wale Sulaiman,CON, ahead of the forthcoming general election.

The endorsement came during an intellectual interactive session at the weekend, where leaders of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Kwara Axis, and other student union heads across the state’s tertiary institutions put the APC chieftain on the hot seat to defend his “2027 Kwara Prosperity Agenda.”

Speaking on behalf of over 4.3 million students domiciled in the state, the NANS Kwara Chairman, Comr. Issa Abdulgafar Arikewuyo, stated that the union’s decision to support Prof. Sulaiman was rooted in three undeniable justifications; Intellectual Accomodation, Competence, Proven Track records and direct connection to a Former Student Union Leader they so much respect.

Arikewuyo noted that unlike typical political gatherings, the session was highly interactive, allowing students to challenge the aspirant’s blueprint directly.

According to him, “the state must stop prioritizing where a leader comes from over his competence, capacity, and character.” He applauded Professor Wale’s non-discriminatory posture and global reputation.

The students cited Prof Sulaiman’s national honor (CON) and his professional sacrifices returning from the U.S. to perform complex neurosurgeries in Nigeria as proof that he is a genuine humanitarian.

“We will write our own story with our own hands. We prioritize qualification over nepotism. Prof. Sulaiman is a game changer, and we are ready to take his ‘Kwara Prosperity Agenda’ message to every student constituency in Kwara,” He added.

Responding to the Students Leaders, Prof. Sulaiman urged them to personalize the interaction and hold all aspirants to a high standard, describing his candidacy as a formal job application to the people of Kwara.

“If you want to hire someone to solve the complex problems of healthcare, education, and insecurity, what requirements would you look for? I grew up as a ‘child of nobody’ in the ghettos of Lagos, and it was through free, quality education that I became a world-renowned neurosurgeon. I want to recreate that same upward mobility for every Kwara youth,” He said.

Prof. Sulaiman reiterated his belief in free primary and secondary education, combined with robust support for the federal student loan scheme at the tertiary level.

Speaking on tackling the “Japa” Syndrome, the renowned neurosurgeon proposed a digital learning infrastructure where top Nigerian professors in the diaspora can teach Kwara students remotely using modern IT auditoriums.

On the issues of accountability, he advocated for digital systems to block corruption, making it impossible to lose files or change data indiscriminately in public administration.

Also addressing the gathering, Mr. Hammed Oladunmoye Habeeb, a former student union leader and CEO of Hafopek Global Enterprises, admonished the youth to prioritize quality over quick monetary benefits from politicians.

Habeeb said politicians failing after getting into office is a direct result of young people voting for those who are not capable over monetary gain.

“Looking at Prof Sulaiman’s rich profile, No candidate in the forthcoming election can match him in qualifications and readiness,” he maintained.
