Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has officially hoisted a 70-meter Unity Flagpole, calling it a towering symbol of “national unity, collective journey and aspirations as a people.
At a brief ceremony in Ilorin, Governor AbdulRazaq said that the state was not just raising a flag, but also unveiling a bold symbol of unity, pride, and national identity.
The Governor, represented by Commissioner for Communication, Bola Olukoju, was assisted by three other Commissioners: Aliyu Kora Sabi (Transport); Nafisat Buge (Environment); and Nnafatima Imam (Social Development) in hoisting the flagpole.
Governor AbdulRazaq, who explained that the flagpole is the tallest in West Africa, said that it aligns with the broader vision of Kwara State which is not only functional, but also beautiful, inspiring, and globally visible.
Watched by hundreds of citizens from different axes of the metropolis, the flag hoisting was also witnessed by Deputy Police Commissioner, DCP Nurudeen Abdulraheem, other top officials, bureaucrats, and many others.
He described the project as another testament to the transformation taking place across Kwara, which reinforces the growing reputation of the state as a centre of innovation, culture, and purposeful leadership.
