As Kwara State marks six years of governance under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, voices from various sectors have acknowledged the progress made during his administration.
Adding to these reflections, Professor Wale Sulaiman, CON, a renowned neurosurgeon, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila Orangun (FUHSI), and President of the RNZ Foundation has offered commendation for the Governor’s developmental efforts.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Prof. Sulaiman described the Governor’s approach as “purposeful and forward-thinking,” noting that several initiatives have contributed to reshaping Kwara’s socio-economic landscape.
“Governor AbdulRazaq has shown commendable focus in implementing projects that lay a solid foundation for inclusive growth and economic diversification,” Prof. Sulaiman said.
He referenced several notable projects under the administration, including the Sugar Factory Film Studios, Kwara Innovation Hub, Visual Arts Centre, International Conference Centre, and Finance House as examples of efforts aimed at creating an enabling environment for private sector engagement and youth empowerment.
“These initiatives reflect a desire to build lasting structures that can stimulate innovation and provide opportunities for the younger generation,” he noted.
Prof. Sulaiman, a leading figure in global health advocacy, also emphasized the potential of Kwara’s growing investments in healthcare and agriculture, sectors he believes can play a transformative role in the state’s future.
“With strategic investment and consistent policy support, Kwara has the potential to emerge as a medical tourism destination and a key player in Nigeria’s agricultural value chain,” he added. “Sustaining these efforts will require continued collaboration across sectors.”
As the state reflects on its recent trajectory, Prof. Sulaiman called for unity and commitment from all stakeholders to ensure that the gains recorded are not only sustained but built upon for the benefit of future generations.
Over the next 2 years, it is very important that highest priorities be given to the following areas – job creation, especially for our young population; improved access to good quality education and healthcare through deployment of innovative technologies to our rural communities; investments in technical and vocational skills centers across the state and community-based strategies to tackle insecurity.
He prayed that may Almighty God bless and guide His Excellency Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as he continues to shepherd the affairs of the state of harmony, uplift the state and all Kwarans.
