I Would Have Pursued Tinubu’s Policies as Nigerian President – Amaechi

By Admin

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, stated that he would have implemented some of President Bola Tinubu’s policies if he had become Nigeria’s president.

Amaechi made this revelation during his 60th birthday celebration in Abuja, noting that while some policies are good, their benefits end up in private pockets rather than helping the nation.

He criticized Nigerian politicians for focusing on resource-sharing rather than fostering capitalist ideas for growth.

He said : “In Nigeria, there are no capitalist ideas among politicians. The quarrel among the elites is about sharing resources. If I were president, yes, I would pursue some of these policies, but the failure is that the gains go into private pockets. At one point, we were paying ₦4-5 trillion in subsidies—where is that money now? If it were reinvested in the economy, Nigerians wouldn’t be suffering.”

Amaechi also called for unity, urging leaders to prioritize national interest over personal gain.
