As Nigeria prepares to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha, the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the deployment of 2,150 officers and personnel to ensure safety, maintain public order, and prevent vandalism of critical infrastructure across the state.
The deployment follows the Federal Government’s declaration of Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays, as approved by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
According to the Lagos State Commandant, Mr. Adedotun Keshinro, the security operation is designed to provide comprehensive coverage before, during, and after the Sallah celebration, given the anticipated movement of people into Lagos for the festive period. He stressed that special attention would be given to protecting national assets and critical infrastructure vulnerable to criminal activities.
The Command’s operational strategy includes patrols, surveillance, and the protection of strategic public spaces such as oil pipelines, utility installations, transport hubs, religious centres, and recreational parks. Officers across all formations have been directed to act swiftly and responsibly to prevent any security breaches.
Commandant Keshinro also warned deployed personnel to stay alert and conduct their duties with discipline, professionalism, and respect for the rights of citizens. He urged them to uphold the Corps’ mandate without fear or favour.
In his Sallah message, the Commandant congratulated the Muslim community and encouraged them to reflect on the values of sacrifice, obedience, and faith as embodied by Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him). He also urged Muslims and all Lagos residents to use the festive period to pray for peace, unity, and national progress.
