Says defection of Former Director-General of the 2023 Senatorial Campaign under the SDP, is strictly a personal decision

The Kwara South Youth for Prof. Wale Sulaiman (PWS) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara South Senatorial District attention has been drawn to a widely circulated report titled “Kwara: Saraki Receives Hundreds of SDP Decampees into PDP”, which claims that some purported members of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Kwara South.
In a Statement made available by Office of Media & Strategic Communications
For Kwara South Youth for PWS, the team categorically debunked the misleading impression created by a report and state the facts clearly:
“The individuals paraded as SDP defectors are not members of the political structure, supporters, or loyalists of Prof. Wale Sulaiman.
“It is on public record that Prof. Wale Sulaiman, CON, a development advocate, and respected APC chieftain, officially joined APC after the election in 2023 including a public declaration recently. Prof. Sulaiman is fully committed to APC, working tirelessly to support the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, and to strengthen the unity of the party at the grassroots and state levels”.
“The defection of Alhaji AbdulFatai Akorede, a former Director-General of the 2023 Senatorial Campaign under the SDP, is strictly a personal decision and does not reflect the position of Prof. Wale Sulaiman. We can say categorically that kwara south PWS political structure and supporters are now fully aligned with the APC and its progressive agenda. It is important to note that Alhaji Akorede has ceased to be the Director-General of Prof. Wale Sulaiman’s campaign since the last election.
“Politics, as we all know, is a game of personal and collective interests. Individuals are free to make personal decisions based on their aspirations. However, such actions should not be misrepresented as reflective of a group, nor should they be politicized to inflate public perception”, the statement emphasized.
They reaffirmed that Prof. Wale Sulaiman remains a committed and visionary leader within the APC, focused on promoting party unity, expanding developmental opportunities for Kwara state, and mobilizing support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda at the national level.
The statement reiterated that the people of Kwara State deserve responsible political narratives, not opportunistic headlines meant to mislead the public.
They urged the general public and media outlets to verify claims before publication and avoid being used as tools for political propaganda.
