Suicide bombing network disrupted in Adamawa, logistics intercepted by troops

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have dismantled a suicide bombing network in Adamawa State, arresting eight suspects linked to the Gamboru Market Mosque attack. (Vanguard)

The arrests occurred during coordinated cordon-and-search operations in Yan Lemo, Mubi South Local Government Area, in the early hours of 5 January 2026. Two of the suspects were identified as key facilitators of the network. Authorities recovered cash, mobile phones, identification documents, ATM cards, and jewellery from the suspects’ residence. Forensic analysis is ongoing.

A suspect already in custody confirmed the identities of the two principal facilitators, linking them to the supply of materials used in preparing Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). Additional occupants of the house were also connected to the terror cell. All suspects remain in military custody undergoing detailed interrogation.

In a related operation, OPHK troops intercepted suspected terrorist logistics in Mayo Nguli, Maiha Local Government Area, on 4 January. The troops seized 45 jerrycans of Premium Motor Spirit, totaling approximately 1,125 litres, allegedly intended for use in terrorist operations. The suppliers fled upon sighting security personnel, abandoning the fuel. No casualties were reported during the operation.

These actions demonstrate OPHK’s continued commitment to dismantling terrorist networks, disrupting supply chains, and preventing future attacks. Authorities urged the public to remain vigilant and provide information to security agencies to sustain peace and stability in the North East.

Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North East, said the operations underscore the military’s resolve to apprehend all collaborators and bring them to justice.
