Ministry of Youths Development Hosts EDON, Commits to Greener Kwara

Kwara State Ministry of Youths Development, on Tuesday received delegates from the Environmental Degradation Organization of Nigeria (EDON), in a bid to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable practices, during a courtesy visit to the Ministry’s headquarters in Ilorin.

The Commissioner for Youths Development, Amb. Ndanusa Usman Shehu, expressed gratitude to the organization for their visit and commended their efforts in promoting environmental cleanliness across the State.

He emphasized that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, a strong advocate for youth development, is also deeply committed to making Kwara State green and clean.

“The Governor is a lover of youths and the environment. Your work aligns with his vision for a cleaner, greener Kwara,” Amb. Ndanusa stated, encouraging further collaboration with EDON.

He further urged them to work assiduously towards ensuring the curbing of indiscriminate felling of trees by some unscrupulous groups, which affects all efforts made at effective tree planting.

In his remarks, the Director of Youths in the Ministry also appreciated the organization for their engagement and commitment to environmental protection.

In response, the leadership of EDON thanked the Ministry for the warm reception and pledged continued support for initiatives that promote sustainable environmental practices, bringing their expertise in environmental advocacy and taking proactive steps in combating environmental degradation in the State. 

He added that the visit marks a promising step forward in strengthening partnerships focused on environmental management and youths engagements in the State.
