The Kwara state Police command through a statement issued by the Command’s Spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the unidentified suspect, who claimed to come from Osun State, was apprehended by a joint patrol team comprising police officers and community vigilante members during a routine operation.
SP Ejire-Adeyemi noted that the suspect was rescued from a violent mob that were on the verge of lynching him.
The Command’s Spokesperson also said the suspect is in police custody further investigations to ascertain the facts surrounding the allegations
She explained that the complainants were yet to report to provide additional information that could assist the Command in its investigation.
SP Ejire-Adeyemi assured the public that updates would be provided as the case unfolds.
The Command command however cautioned the public against mob action and jungle justice.
It described jungle justice as unlawful, counterproductive and therefore urged members of the public to promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
