By: Mercy Folounsho Armed attackers have reportedly invaded Kemanji community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State leaving at least four soldiers dead and several residents abducted. The early morning raid occurred around 3 a.m., when the assailants stormed the area under the cover of darkness, shooting sporadically and causing panic among residents. Sources say troops of the Nigerian Army, alongside local vigilantes, engaged the attackers in a gun battle that lasted for nearly two hours. During the confrontation, four soldiers were killed, while a vigilante member sustained serious gunshot injuries. Residents also reported that the attackers used explosives on a military position, which weakened security resistance and gave them an advantage. Several people are still unaccounted for, with fears that they may have been abducted by the fleeing gunmen. The attackers were also said to have carted away military patrol vehicles and motorcycles. As of the time of this report, authorities are yet to issue an official statement, while tension remains high in the community.
